Biking / ATVing

Difficult climbs, fast downhills, single trails. Are you ready to ride? With miles of old logging roads and thousands of acres of the Cherokee Forest readily accessible to us, we can be your home base for hours of pleasurable riding. Not everybody can handle technical and advanced trails, so we have you covered with plenty of easy to moderate, scenic trips.

If you want to test your aerobic fitness and technical riding skills, HERE'S A TRAIL FOR YOU:

This 6.8-mile loop starts off innocently enough with a quick descent down paved Dry Creek Road. That's followed by a long climb to the top of Buffalo Mountain on a scenic, grassy doubletrack. You'll enjoy views of nearby Cherokee and Pinnacle Mountains as the trail winds along Buffalo Mountain ridge. The trail changes character completely once it leaves the ridge and merges with an all-terrain vehicle trail, known locally as the Blue Trail. The Blue Trail will challenge you with a chaotic mix of banked turns, loose rock, sand and mud bogs, roots, and whoop-de-doos. The last mile of this ride is a very technical descent, which can be treacherous in places and even dangerous when wet. Beginners may wish to walk some of the technical downhill. Buffalo Mountain's maze of trails are maintained primarily for all-terrain vehicle use, so make sure your bike is in good mechanical shape. There are great views of the surrounding UnaKa Mountains on the climb to Buffalo Mountain ridge; but you won't have much time to enjoy the scenery on the downhill.

Our Buffalo Mountain offers the ATV’ers a great 13 mile trail with loads of challenging climbs; beautiful vistas; and tons of wildlife, including black bear and wild turkey! The U.S. Forest Service provides a paved, safe parking area with loading ramps at this ATV area.

If you enjoy road cycling, we have limitless two lane back-country roads with light motor traffic for your riding pleasure. Check out our “Driving Tours” page for some of our favorite routes.

Remember to protect and take care of these great riding resources or we all lose!
